DOL is Seeking Feedback Regarding Notary Biometric Proofing

DOL received a petition for rulemaking to change the notarization laws to include the addition of a secondary identity proofing option through biometrics. Biometric identity proofing is the process of using unique physical characteristics, such facial imaging, to prove identity. Using biometrics does not involve passing a test based on your credit history, rather, individuals may use a web or phone camera.
