Real Estate Commission Vacancy (x2)

The Governor’s Office is seeking applicants to fill two (2) positions on the Washington Real Estate Commission. The current appointments target real estate brokers from Eastern Washington.

WR ENDORSEMENT

Eligible REALTOR® member candidates wishing to obtain endorsement from Washington REALTORS® to be added to their application submission must:

  • Email a screenshot of your application materials, with the subject line DOL ENDORSEMENT, by COB 07/03/2024 to Mary Hull-Drury at  mary.drury@warealtor.org.
  • NOTE: Applicants are recommended to take a screen shot of submissions for your records. 
The Nominations Committee will conduct interviews via ZOOM and staff will arrange scheduling your interview.

"The Real Estate Commission is recruiting for two (2) new volunteer commission members who live and work in Eastern Washington. 

Benefits to Being a Commissioner:

  • Help your industry grow, fostering diversity and regional representation.
  • Provide advice to the Department of Licensing (Department) on topics related to real estate licensing.
  • Provide a voice for the licensees in your profession.
  • In accordance with RCW 43.03.240, 43.03.050, and 43.03.060 commissioners may receive compensation for meeting attendance, commission related work, and required travel reimbursements. Commissioners do not receive any other state benefits, such as retirement service credits or medical insurance.

Commissioner Responsibilities Include:

  • Serve for a six-year term.
  • Attend quarterly Commission meetings.
  • Read through meeting materials and review all items in advance in order to arrive prepared to discuss agenda topics.
  • Participate in subcommittees.
  • Help with special projects related to Commission work.
  • Attend and participate in listening sessions and other outreach activities.
  • Assist with developing surveys/polls for industry professionals’ opinions on a variety of topics.
  • Work with the Department to help us reduce barriers to education and licensure.
  • Represent the Commission to the industry and public.
  • Perform research for both regular and subcommittee meetings.

Note: All Commission and subcommittee meetings are held virtually, with a potential for one in-person hybrid Commission meeting per year. Any in-person hybrid meetings would have a virtual attendance option.
 

Qualifications:

  • Licensed in good standing under Chapter 18.140 RCW.
  • Five or more years' experience in selling, operating, or managing real estate in Washington state; or
  • At least three years' experience in investigative work of a similar nature, preferably in connection with the administration of real estate license law.
  • Military members and their spouses are encouraged to apply.
