Washington REALTORS® Statement on Reports of Sexual Harassment at the National Association of REALTORS®

Washington REALTORS® does not tolerate sexual harassment or misconduct in any form from its leadership, directors or staff.
We are disturbed by reports of misconduct at the National Association of REALTORS®, and we extend our heartfelt appreciation to the individuals who showed great courage in speaking out about their experiences, igniting a necessary conversation in our industry about creating and maintaining a respectful work environment. Indeed, change only happens when individuals feel safe to speak out and be heard.
We would like to assure our members that we have a robust and accessible sexual harassment policy in place, which can be found HERE. We also understand that this sort of policy is valuable only to the extent that it empowers everyone who believes they have been harassed to speak up, speak out, and leads to action.
Our policy is more than words on a page – it is a commitment that we continually strive to embed into our organizational values. On the occasions our policy has been put to the test, it has proved to be responsive, swift, and effective.
We encourage every REALTOR® association, MLS office and real estate brokerage to create, foster, and reinforce a culture of respect and safety for all and identify a safe and clear path to report harassment that allows a fair investigative process. We will continue to advocate for change at the National Association of REALTORS® to create a safe and respectful environment for all members, leadership and staff.
Together, let’s continue creating a culture and profession we are all proud to be a part of.
