Important Legislative Days Announcement
As many of you know, the State Legislature is not permitting any in-person "Hill Day" visits for the 2022 session. Despite this, our members know that the Legislative Day event remains one of our most important gatherings of the year—our conversations regarding critical housing legislation and other legislative priorities cannot be understated. Accordingly, WR had decided to move forward with a hybrid event with both in-person and virtual options, even without the usual “hill visits.”
However, registration for the in-person portion of our event has plummeted this year, likely due to the absence of in-person Hill Day visits but also due to other factors, such as the uncertainty created by the surge of Covid-19 cases caused by the Omicron variant and the associated record hospitalization numbers. The Washington REALTORS® Executive Committee could not ignore those attendance numbers and met to consider how to proceed in the best interests of our members.
A wide-ranging discussion ensued that considered all key factors, including the safety of our members and their families, community impact, and the fiscal responsibility of proceeding with low attendance numbers, all balanced against the disappointment to those members who were looking forward to an in-person meeting. In the end, the Washington REALTORS® Executive Committee made the difficult decision to convert our hybrid event to a fully virtual event.
Please participate virtually! Switching to a virtual format does not diminish the importance of the work we do at our Legislative Day event. We still need to be prepared to contact our legislators and our members throughout the session, so we encourage ALL members to attend virtually, to engage and ask questions, and to have a clear understanding of REALTOR® Legislative Priorities and the critical housing legislation being addressed this session. Your attendance is more important than ever—we look forward to seeing you virtually during the event!
NEXT STEPS FOR REGISTRANTS
Your Registration
You do not need to do anything if you registered to attend in-person. Washington REALTORS® will convert your registration to the virtual attendance option. You will receive an email the night before each day of the event with the following day's links to join virtual meetings/sessions.
Refunds
Any fees you may have paid to attend, including the WR Installation Banquet, will be refunded. Please allow 5-7 business days for the refund to reflect in your bank account.
Hotel Rooms
Washington REALTORS® will handle cancelling hotel rooms booked under the WR room block at the Olympia Hotel at Capitol Lake. Please note, if you have made accommodations elsewhere in Olympia, you will need to cancel your reservations.
