Yesterday, the U.S. Department of the Treasury announced new steps that the Biden Administration is taking to help housing affordability. The new policies mirror many of NAR’s top priorities, including steps to help lower housing costs and increase housing supply.

The Governor’s Office is seeking applicants to fill two (2) positions on the Washington Real Estate Commission. The current appointments target real estate brokers from Eastern Washington.

REALTORS® Affordability Distribution Curve and Score
This data from the National Association of REALTORS® shows how affordable homes are across different income levels in each state and the 100 largest metropolitan areas. Unlike the traditional Housing Affordability Index, this new measure considers all income percentiles and focuses on homes currently available for sale.The REALTORS® Affordability Distribution Score is different in two major ways from the existing Housing Affordability Index (HAI):
It considers affordability for all income percentiles, not just the median income, and
It looks at the affordability of active inventory or homes currently available for sale instead of homes that have already sold.
